Foundation 1

Foundation 1

Welcome to Foundation 1’s class page.

We love to work together in Foundation 1. Our team is Mrs Fretwell, Mrs Collinson and Miss Fisher. We are here to lead and support your child through their exciting and purposeful journey in Foundation 1.

On this page you will find lots of information to keep you up to date with what is going on in Foundation 1.

Routines

The school gates open at 8.45am, and the children are welcomed in to complete a variety of finger gym activities to warm up their mind and bodies for the day ahead.

We share snack time together between 10.30 and 11am and this gives our children a wonderful opportunity to share any news or special events that are happening in their lives.

In F1, we learn in whole class and small groups to enable all children to access learning at their level. This also allows children to have one on one time if required.

F1 is a morning session and finish at 11.45am.  You are welcome to speak to a member of staff if you have any concerns or queries.

PE

Our P.E. day is on a Monday morning from 10.30 with Mr McGovern and Mrs Fielding. The children are split up into two groups and escorted over to the barn to complete a range of exciting physical activities. The children have enjoyed completing a course in trampolining and we are currently practicing moving around the hall in a variety of different ways. On a Monday, please make sure all ong hair must be tied back and earrings removed.

Home Learning

This half term all children will be given the opportunity to take home our class teddy bear, ‘Mr. Tumble’ for the weekend. Each child will be given ‘Mr Tumble’ on a Friday and a book to show his adventures for the weekend. Please include a variety of photographs and writing to allow your child to share with the class their weekend activities.

Curriculum

This half term we will be focusing on ‘New Life’ on the lead up to Easter. We will start off reflecting on Shrove Tuesday. We will be focusing on the book ‘Mr Wolf’s Pancakes’, we will be tasting pancakes and exploring were the ingredients come from.

On Ash Wednesday the children will have an opportunity to receive ashes and to reflect on what this means for them. During Lent, we will each put a leaf on our Lent tree and pray for people that our special to us.

As well as New Life we will be focusing on Spring in F1. We will be planting seeds and talking about changes in our weather. This theme will thread through all areas of our Early Years Curriculum.
